I am a population and community ecologist, especially interested in understanding the roles of species interactions in the dynamics of populations and structures of communities. I have worked the most on the ecology of parasitoid wasps, and multitrophic interactions between plants, herbivorous insects and their parasitoids. I approach this through field and laboratory experiments on life history and behavior, field survey and population genetics.
Before coming to Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in late 2021, I worked for 20 years in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Helsinki and in the Departments of Entomology and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Cornell University.
Here is a 2023 article about my work.
